Bundled in the Life of Elohim

God’s transcendent journey for our lives is great, though sometimes long. We live in an hour that requires great courage, energy and character to serve God. How do we continue when the assignment entrusted to us requires more than natural strength? Abigail’s remarkable words to David, which kept him from shedding blood, give us insight; she spoke words of wisdom and life over him:
“Yet a man is risen to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul: but the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, as out of the middle of a sling.” — 1 Samuel 25:29, KJV
As David prepared to retaliate against Abigail’s husband, Nabal, Abigail intervened, reminding David of God’s great purpose for his life and urging him not to take vengeance into his own hands. Her words spoke of God’s keeping power, and her intervention helped guard David against an action that could have derailed his future
To be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD our God reveals a profound picture of His providence. We are held in the One who gave us life. Our security rests in Him, and His power to keep extends to the choices we make as we carry out His purposes.
The Breath of Life Is the Source of Our Life
Human existence began when God breathed life into the dust He had formed. God’s Zoe Life entered humanity. Every breath we take, and every ounce of strength we are given to serve Him, still flows from that same Source.
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” — Genesis 2:7, NKJV
In Christ, we receive eternal life—rooted in knowing and abiding in Him. The Greek word Zoe refers to divine and eternal life: the uncreated, indestructible spiritual life that belongs uniquely to God, life in its absolute, highest principle. We receive this life from God through His Son, and it sustains, shapes, and empowers us to fulfil His purposes. The One who created us also brings us into living fellowship with Himself through Christ.
In Abigail’s words and in Genesis 2:7, the divine name is YAHWEH Elohim in Hebrew. Elohim, in its plurality, reveals the fullness of God in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. To be bundled in Elohim is to be bundled in the Creator’s Supremacy—sustained by the ultimate, sovereign source of all creation
The One who holds David’s life is the Creator, Judge, and Ruler of the universe, and that same keeping power holds us. This is at the heart of the existence of sons and daughters. Those who belong to God are bound up, bundled, and sustained by Him.
Held in His Love, Sustained by His Life
Agape—the supernatural sacrificial love of God—is supremely revealed in Christ on the Cross. The Love and Life found in Him are bundled together in a love feast; in the early church, agape also named the fellowship meal believers shared (Jude 12). Both are connected in John’s profound revelation:
“For God so loved [agapaō] the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life [zōē].” — John 3:16, NKJV
Agape and Zoe are inseparable in the biblical narrative. You cannot experience God’s Zoe Life apart from His Agape love. To be “bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God” is to be fully enveloped in both—immersed in His Agape (the nature of His heart) and securely sustained by His Zoe—the power resident in His existence.
Zoe and Agape are Heaven’s cleansing agents, working to detoxify and perfect the saints. God’s Love and Life work deeply within, cleansing, restoring, and bringing His people to maturity. They reach into the soul’s wounds to renew the mind. They are the incomparable prescription for the Body’s mental health, enabling it to carry the disposition of the LORD.
Together, they release His joy and peace to sustain us on the Great Journey. They work to remove the toxins that would steal, kill, and destroy His people, keeping them wrapped in Elohim. The enemy may pursue us, and trials may press upon us, yet nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Even in weakness, His life is at work within us, and His grace supplies the strength for faithful obedience.
The Heavenly Package
God’s apostolic assignment at the conclusion of the age is to carry the evidence, His Life, and His Love to their appointed destination. Held in His care, transitional leaders are embedded in the Bundle of the Lord as carriers of what has been entrusted to them: the Heavenly Package.
This package is the evidence by which God’s case is made, His witness is established, and appointed locations are secured for His Kingdom and for strategic purposes. It contains His message, His testimony, and the stewardship He places in the heart. Our responsibility is to obey. We can trust God to bring it to its destination with the necessary provision.
God’s part is to ensure the package arrives where He sends it. Angels are sent on assignment to see it safely to its destination. In Exodus 23:20, God told Moses He would send an Angel before Israel to keep them on the way and bring them into the place He had prepared. Heaven is deeply invested in its delivery and in the fulfilment of His purposes, even when the path unfolds differently than we expected. God’s care for Israel shows His faithfulness, reminding us that His purposes do not depend on human strength.
Attached to the Heart
In some movies, an important package placed in a secure container is handcuffed to the wrist of the envoy assigned to deliver it. The Heavenly Package entrusted to God’s people is carried in our hearts. The Treasure, the testimony, the stewardship becomes part of the life of the one who carries it. We cannot faithfully deliver His message while remaining unchanged by it.The Life of God supplies what is needed for the Great Journey and for the destination where the package finds its rest and is secured. Paul understood this. He
laboured diligently, yet the power sustaining his labour came from Christ:
“To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.” — Colossians 1:29, NIV
Paul describes Christ’s powerful work within him. God’s very life sustains us. We do not run on our own strength; we run on His.
Messengers of the Covenant
As the proclaimers of His truth to the nations and to His people, we become His messengers—carrying His message while being held within His life.
Malachi 3:1 speaks of the messenger preparing the way before the Lord, and of the Lord coming to His temple as the Messenger of the Covenant. In Matthew 11:10, Jesus identifies the messenger who prepares the way as John the Baptist.
“I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the LORD Almighty. — Malachi 3:1, NIV
The generation alive today is His messenger, carrying His Voice and preparing His way. Those who would carry His authentic Voice must allow His heart and His mind to shape their own. Apostolic saints must carry the whole package as messengers in union with the Messenger of the Covenant and His message. Those who carry His message must embody it, becoming one with the Package they carry.
To embody the message is to surrender our whole lives to the One who holds us. In union with Christ, we remain His servants, dependent upon His life and subject to His leading. The Lord is not asking for part of us. He wants the whole sacrifice. He wants it all…not just our Sundays…not a piece of our lives…all of it.
This surrender extends to the motivations of our hearts, our relationships, our decisions, and our stewardship. We offer ourselves wholly to Him, trusting Him to form us into faithful bearers of what He entrusts to us. Some will be sent with strategic Kingdom blueprints for this notable hour; others serve through different assignments. Every stewardship remains submitted to Christ, and every servant draws strength from Him.
The Life Is in the Blood
In Holy Communion, we partake by faith of His Body and the Life that is in His Blood. As we wait upon the Lord, eating and drinking of Him, we draw upon His life, and our strength, energy, and bodies are renewed. We receive the spiritual nourishment of His Blood, which cleanses our minds, souls, and hearts. The Blood washes away sin—the impurities, defilement, and mixture that cannot exist in the Presence of Elohim.
Scripture declares that life is in the blood. In Christ’s shed blood, we see the costly giving of His life for our redemption and the depth of His love for us. That Life is the Zoe Life of God, and the Agape—the Love of God—is in the Blood, the sacrificial God-kind of love that exists only in Him.
God is well able to transform our bodies, renew our minds, and preserve our hearts to serve Him in the Call, giving us the energy, life, and strength to continue to the end of our course. His joy and peace strengthen us for the Great Journey as we remain bundled in His keeping—held in His love and sustained by His life. Isaiah reminds us to look to where our strength comes from:
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:28–31, NKJV
The One who formed us from the dust and breathed His Life into us does not grow tired. Bundled in His Zoe Life, we will not either. As we run toward the finish line, we look toward the words of our Lord and King: “Well done, good and faithful servant…” (Matt. 25:21); “O man greatly beloved…” (Dan. 10:19, KJV).
The generation chosen to run the final leg of the race, the last runner carrying the final stone to be laid in the temple of God, will run as one in Elohim—the triune God—united in the Agape love feast of the Life of God: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
I believe God is now forming a mature corporate people under the Headship of Christ—an Administration brought forth in an era of Conclusion, prepared to steward His purposes as the age moves toward its consummation. We are called into a unique partnership to bring God’s transcendent plan to conclusion. As the early apostles were called to open the gates to the Life of God indwelling man, an apostolic generation will be called, chosen and mandated with the high call of opening the gates to the King of Kings.
The concluding dynamic of God’s plan will be unprecedented in every sphere, dimension, scope and aspect of service to Elohim. The mighty power of God will be seen on Earth again, brought forth for the conclusion and climax of the battle against the dragon and his forces.
“As in the days when you came out of Egypt, I will show them my wonders.” — Micah 7:15, NIV
Whatever our place is in His purposes, the foundation of our service remains the same: to abide in Christ. His love shapes us, and His life strengthens us, so we can be faithful to what He has entrusted to us. We can look with hope toward the fulfilment of His purposes and the manifestation of His power.
